Photos of rearranged tank

i didn't get many comments about my rearrangement. I spent 7 hours on it! Please plant experts :) I'll try and get a new piccy up tonight, cos it's cleared up a lot.

i think your tank is beautiful!!! what fish do you have in there?
Thanks, I have 2 dwarf gourami, 3 guppies, 5 cory metae, 3 botia striata and 3 amano shrimp.

I did take pictures again last night but didn't have time to put them online.

Looks great, hondour. The layout you've got going, a sortof dense foliage to sand patch (for lack of a better term... empty space?), is good. What is that, hygro, jungle val, some sort of sword, hairgrass and red tiger lotus? I read that you're binning the lotus cus it doesn't fit with your theme. Such a shame, those are one of my favorite plants. Speaking of which, I used to have one but it sortof died or went on a rest period like apon's do. The one you have in the pic is a deep red, like mine was, and not that faded orangish-red like the ones that are seen in (my) the LFS. Did you start it from a bulb or a sprout/plant?

Yes thats basically it, with hopefully a sloping effect (the triangle type design) going on. I wanted the empty space at the front for the corys in a way. They spend 99% of their time sifting through sand and when I originally had some open space they seemed to like it and it means I get to see them more, especially at feeding time.

I've just literally got some more hair grass and riccia today. I want to have a carpet of some sort, but not sure where yet. My hair grass doesnt seem to be doing so well...still trying to get the conditions right. It's tough this planted tank business. :)

Just looked up red tiger lotus on google (still dont really know the names of the plants I have). I think the one you are talking about is the one on the left hand side...that I've just stuck there! I can't bear to get rid of it! I love it too. I think I may have left it out of water too long cos the leaves are dying a bit. The leaves are kind of like those 2 tone cars, green from one angle and red from another. I expect I shall keep it, just don't know where to put it! Any ideas?

Did you start it from a bulb or a sprout/plant
It was a bulb...it did _nothing_ for ages, now it won't stop growing. But when I rearranged my tank on saturday I broke the main plant from the bulb :( The bulb is actually just left of the wood now. I don't know if this will mean the main plant will die, but I'm hoping the bulb may sprout again.

People might think it's odd that I've done the triangle shape so that the dense part is on the right (99% of pics of tanks I've seen goes from left to right). The reason is because I have my tank in a corner, and the right hand side is not really visible, where as the left hand side is visible from the other sofa and the door. So I have all my pipes and stuff on the right with the plants hiding it.
