Hmmm my apistogrammas breed in PH thats between 5.5-6.0.

Im not sure about the betta

most of the sites i read said bettas can live in a ph of 6 so they should both be ok

Easy to breed species, my water is 7.6-7.8 & they bred good in that. Cacatuoides are one of the few NW dwarf cichlids that will breed well in harder water with a higher pH.

ok ill post on the betta section then

and what do you use to get the oh that low

I use plants and co2 to lower my ph naturally. There are drops at the LFS to drop the ph as well

the water where i am is really hard and the ph in my tank is 7.4 so will they breed in that

Should be fine but may take a while for them to breed so just be patient

and my grandad has a hot tube and has all the ph chemical things that adjust the ph could i use them in my tank coz there cheaper than at the lfs

Mine is 7.6 to 7.8 & hard. They bred fine in that, plenty of large water changed with slightly cooler water.

What chemicals do they contain? If you aren't certain of what they are, and what they do keep them far from your tank. A bucket of sudsy water that L wash my car with is safe for me, deadly for fish. Just because it's safe for you doesn't mean it's safe for fish.

If you have pH swings in a hot tub there are no deaths. Fish do not appreciate pH swings, your hardness will tend to stabilize the pH. The harder the water the more it will stabilize that pH. Anything added to the water will increase total dissolved solids, this includes the chemicals you are considering adding to adjust the pH.

Cacatuoides are relatively easy to breed, your water should work fine. Males will start to breed at about 2 1/2" or slightly larger, females at about 2". This is generally around 8 months of age.

ok ill just leave it
the apisto are 3-5cm so some will be sexualy muture
