hi, i use "argonite" brand salt water live sand for my 2.5 gallon freshwater shrimp tank... It's perfectly well except for 1 problem. Day by day, the pH is slowly getting higher and higher, what should i do?

Is there a way to drag the pH down without it going back up again? Right now it is 7.8 ph and im hoping for somethin like a 7.2-7.3.

by the way, i cannot use any copper-based products.

thanks

That sand is supposed to raise kH and pH. If you don't like it i would find a different substrate. No sense adding a pH down to conteract a pH up when you can just get rid of the "up". Not sure but I doubt a 7.8 would hurt the shrimp.

If you don't want the pH to go over 8.0, pull the aragonite and get a substrate intended for freshwater. Aragonite is intended to be used in a saltwater tanks. We often advise people with low pH to use crushed coral in their tanks to raise pH but I can't recall ever recommending it as the sole substrate in a tank that does not need pH boosters.
