Should I add a pH reduction agent (API, Tetra, etc)

Hi all,
I have a 10gallon tank with two balloon mollies and two platies. They've been doing wonderfully! I tested my water this morning to make sure everything was alright, and my pH read 8.0. (My ammonia, nitrate, and nitrites are all at 0ppm) My fish do not seem to be having any problems with their environment, but I feel like this pH is a little bit high, and I've struggled with ammonia problems before, so I don't want a high pH to encourage more problems. Should I attempt to add a pH reduction agent in my water? Mind you, I did a 30% water change about 12 hours ago.....

I don't want to "fix" a problem that was never an issue in the first place!

Thanks! :)

Yay First vote for me! lol

But I would not faf around playing with you PH. From what I have read if your fish are fine then a stable PH is better than one that swings, even if its not the ideal PH for the fish.

I am sure someone with more experience will give further advice though.

No; if your water is hard the pH will bounce back up very rapidly anyway. A stable pH is far more important than the actual value, and livebearers in general don't mind hard water.

:good: Awesome! Will do! you've just saved me an extra long trip to the LFS store. Thanks everyone! You all rock! :D
