Ph Link

The first equation is wrong! The p in pH is a function; p stands for the "negative of the base 10 logarithm of the concentration of the thing after the p" so, pH would be -log_10( concentration of H+ ). The equation in the link has H3O+. Now, in real world, in aqueous solution, H+ doesn't exist on its own, it is H3O+. Using one or the other is completely equivalent, which is why the old notation of using just H+ is still very common. Nevertheless, the equation on the link is pH3O, not pH.

The ammonium-ammonia info is wrong, too!

One point must be made and that is that if you maintain the water above 7.6 pH then you need to have a good biological filter. This is because Ammonia, which is toxic in itself, is converted to Ammonium at 7.6 and Ammonium is extremely toxic.

No matter what the pH is, there is always some ammonia and some ammonium. The ratio between the two is a function of both temperature and pH, but where there is one, there is the other. There is nothing special about a pH of 7.6 (or 7.0 or any other pH). See <a href="http://www.fishforums.net/content/forum/15...Ammonia-Charts/" target="_blank">http://www.fishforums.net/content/forum/15...Ammonia-Charts/</a> for the details. EDITED TO ADD: actually, that is the old link. With the forum upgrade, the threads got different URLs, and since search is still broken, I can't find it. EDITED A SECOND TIME TO ADD: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=154313 <-- this is the correct link. I left the old edit in there so that maybe, just maybe, someone will be able to get on fixing the search function (please?)

They also recommend using RO water, but not distilled water because "it has no dissolved salts and hence no buffering ability". While that is true, so the exact same thing can be said for RO water! Not to mention it is relatively simple to put salts back into the water.

Overall, while the info isn't terrible, there are some inaccuracies (the notes above are the ones that jumped out to me, I didn't read the link in depth), and it is a collection of info that can be found in many different places. It is good to keep some info like this, but it is also good to understand that there are errors in a lot of what is posted on the Internet, and they need to be double, triple, quadruple checked for putting your faith in them.
