hi, is pfk mag any good i asked this question before but then it led to everyone talking about the ebook version lol, my birthdays is on the 17th and im thinking of getting an annual subscription

It's worth getting.

But the last 6 months it's gone down hill.
All the same people writing stuff.
Would like to see more from the hobbiest in it.

so i dont get it anymore.

I dont think the subscription is the way forward. It does save money but only if you are likely to get the mag every time a new one comes out.

In the last year I have only seen 3 copies that I was interested in. All the other editions had contents that I wasnt that keen on knowing about... i.e. I have no interest in breeding angel fish.

Too much stuff in sri lanka catching wild fish, heliko belphar to many articles, to much about cichlids.

There is less marine articles too.

I now they have had several articles from a livebearers chap here but never used anything, and used to love reading the the odd ball cats by Chris Ralph but dont see much from him now.

If i though i could do article i would but my dyslexia I dare not.

I would wait until they have a good subscription offer for something you might buy anyway - e.g. they sometimes do a test kit - - I think last months was a CO2 injection kit.

I have a 2 year running subscription.
I read maybe one article out of every 2 mags, seems the same old most the time.

P@H sell it as do WH Smith, it's not a bad mag. Theres also 'Tropical Fish' mag, which gets its readers questions from here. Its not a bad mag, a bit more geared towards Marine fish though.

Ive just got a PFK subscription for my birthday Well worth the money always something interesting in it I think its £3.10 now not sure I always buy it though even just for the rare imports section and the discovery bit, the part where they rack up a type of fish and list the ones suitable for certain tank sizes is always interesting as well.

Ive had the Tropical Fish Mag as well and I have to say its often not as good as PFK for me but then again I like more broad approach to the hobby where as they direct things to africans, discus and marine the three sections of fish keeping I know very little about haha!! I know Neale Monks is a regular contributor to that mag though

Also Tropical Fish Mag isnt the best designed magazine in the world (no offense) but it kind of puts me off but thats just me being a critic as usual...

Got to agree with this also.

As interesting as these articles may be its not really Practical Fishkeeping is it.
