Petstore Has Labels Mixed Up Can You Guys Help Me Math The Labels To T

labels:
boesemani rainbow
turquise rainbow
australian rainbow

fish:
1. a 2-3" yellow fish with rainbow fish qualities to it(big eyes, forked mouth, finnage)
some had the top 2 fins fused into one big one and same goes for bottom

2. rainbowfish with a large black line running horizontally down the side of the fish. when i bought 2 (thinking they were boesemani) they turned purple/blue/green on the top half of the fish, returned cuz they werent the fish i paid for, lady still thought they were boesemani.

3. very pale rainbowfish with slight hints of blues and yellows mixed toghether, not seperated, mixed in


all of the fish were very dull (which is why im having problems) cuz of a slight space issue, and the only other fish in the tanks were barbs and hatchets.

are any of these fish that the labels suggest they are?

the fish are juvis cuz they dont have the arched back

can you post a picture of the fish?
many rainbowfish sold in shops end up being hybrids that can look like anything. A picture is the easiest way to id them.

Young fish will be narrow in the body and not develop the deep back until they mature, (between 1-2 years depending on species and tank size). Some species stay narrow/ slender bodied, (Melanotaenia nigrans, gracilis, exquisita), whereas other get really deep bodied, (M. herbertaxelrodi, praecox).
