As far as I'm aware, Pets At Home employee's don't have to be experts on fishkeeping whatsoever.

It's like going into currys or comet and asking advice on a computer/tv/surround sound/speakers whatever, they dont have a clue but they'll talk you into buying it because you also dont know what they're talking about, well maybe not all of you lol..

You only notice these things when you learn about it & then notice the advice they're telling you isnt right.

Idk what im trying to get at here but yeah, it's same with most things.. lol
