hi
have 2 peppered corys( gorgeous little busy things - have bright green flashes when you see them in certain light) in our community tank, they are very fond of eachother & just about always snuggling up & swimming around together. just wondering if theres a way to tell the difference between the boys & girls???

Males tend to be slimmer and there top dorsal is pointed along with their pectorial fins, females usually plumper from looking above and her pectorial fins will be rounded (thats if can get them to stay still for long enough)

I think thats how you tell them apart.

millym-

Bigfish is right in his description of male and female corys. If they are mature you will able to tell by the size difference. While they are young it is harder. If they are young now and you want to breed them in the future, it might be a good idea to get 2 to 4 more to insure that you will have some of each when the are old enough.

Besides, when it comes to corys, the more the merrier! :D

corys could be bred in an aqurium? do they lay eggs or give birth to live frys like guppies?

Hi cutie dinokun, :D

Cory cats are egg layers. They will usually lay their eggs on the sides of the aquarium or on the plants.

Egg layers are more difficult to breed than livebearers, as a rule. But, if someone has had good luck breeding livebearers, and wants to try egg layers, corys are a good one to start with. :)
