Peppered cory colors fading

For some reason my peppered corys looked alot lighter than usual so is it they are blending in with the substrate or haven't gotten used to it or something else?

Many species lighten or darken depending on the shade of the substrate. Were they on darker substrate before?

Yes blue gravel

The color change then is simply due to light sand then in this case
