hi. one of my 5 pepper catfish was looking rather fat so i decided to move them all to a
smaller tank hoping she would lay eggs. the problem is she has laid eggs in the net while
transfering them. what should i do? leave the net in the tank with them, or carefully
detatch them from the net?

please help as i would love to have babies.

thanx

Had she aleady been in the T postion with a male just prior to you catching and moving her? If so then she must have been holding the eggs in her pectral fins looking for a place to put them.

Or posisbly the stress of being chased and netted caused her to have the eggs.

If she had bred with a male and was looking for a place for the eggs then they should already be fertilised and you can leave the eggs in the net, but leave the net suspended in the tank with the parents. Depending on the hole size of the net newly hatched fry may slip out of the holes into the main tank.

hi, thanx for getting back to me.
im not quite sure about the T position.
basically i came home after a day out with the kids and saw about
6 eggs on the side of the tank
which my rummy nose tetras were pecking at. so i moved her along with
the males just incase there were more eggs to be laid
i have however since placed these eggs into a plastic breeding trap
and have seen more on the glass of the new tank

got up this morning to check on the catfish. omg theres thousands of eggs lol
quite afew have a little greyish spot in them so hopefully have some babbies soon :)

Hi Tigsy,

Here is an article that will give you some things to think about. Then, since there are other variations, please post your questions here. :D
