i need to make my tank water very soft and acid. but currently my tap water is very hard.

Ph 7.8 GH 15 KH 12

i need the PH down to about 6.5

after consulting many experts, i now decide to mix my tap water with distilled water for water change.

i went to my local TESCO today. there are many kinds of water. I found a spring water with PH 4.6

however, no idea about distilled water.

Anyone here use this method b4 can recommend a nice one? Hopeful not too expensive

First: why exactly are you planning to do this? It if often much safer and simpler to just leave it. Many fish can survive in a range of pH and hardness given that you acclimatise them properly and over a number of hours.

from what i know, messing about with the PH is more agro than its worth, have read that statement lots of times on here, fish can adapt, but im sure someone with more knowledge will advise you more accuratley

(PS dont go out and buy other water... specially bottled, that will run you up a huge bill)

Yes, i know, however, my tank is not big, only about 35L.

i try to keep a kind of special shrimp which need very soft water.

i try to keep in my hard water, although all the parameter is perfect. and i have done everything i can.
ask many ppl who keep this shrimp. finally found out i have to transfer to soft water.
Otherwise, sooner or later, they will all died out.

i already think about peat, RO water, which is not good for me.

the best and practical way for me is to use bottle water.

Anyone else in this forum use bottle water? i do not think i am the only one

Put some real almond leaves in there. Trying to mix around water levels and change kH is just going to add to stress whereas the leaves will slowly bring down the kH naturally.

i already tried all these, there are many leaves, bogwoods in my tanks.

and i was told even i put peat still useless, because the GH, KH is too high.

actually it is true. Because i use ADA aqua soil amazonia, which normally bring PH down dramatically.
However, in my case, Ph of my tank water is almost same as the tap water.
