Pectoral Fin Not Flapping....

Fish can also get bacterial gill rot.
It could be the rotting gills that are causing the cloudy stuff coming out.

To be honest he sounds to far gone bless him.
If he dies. Bag him up and place him the freezer. Then take him back to the lfs for a refund.

Flubenol is an internal parasite med.
Furanol is an internal bacteria med.

Gill Disease
Symptoms
Rapid gill movements, and swollen or discoloured gills. The fish are likely to stop feeding and may gasp either at the surface or laying motionless on the bottom.

Causes
The disease can be caused by infections of fungi, bacteria and parasites, and poor water quality is likely to be a contributory factor.

Possible cures
An improvement in water quality may be the first step in treatment - avoid overfeeding and overcrowding, and carry out frequent partial water changes. Use a water conditioner during water changes to avoid irritation of the gill membranes by chlorine. It may be necessary to add an anti-bacterial to the water. If gill parasites are suspected, it may be necessary to treat with formalin or copper based medications.

With not having an issolation tank the temp might drop in the container.
But he can't go in main tank if other fish are pecking at him.

His gills are motionless with no rapid gill movement.

Poor thing.
I would prepare yourself to lose him I'm afraid.
He dosn't look good at all.

Sometimes fish can surprise you. But he looks to far gone to me.
Wish I could offer better news, but it just not looking good for him.

Hmm i thought i caught him quite early too because he wasnt going to one side when i noticed a slight problem. I suppose by tomorrow morning i will either see a rapid improvement or more likely as you predict maybe dead. The 1 litre of water hes in ive given a 3g salt treatment and will do 2g of more salt tomorrow. Along with the internal bacteria treatment.

If he does pass away am i in my rights to get a refund from the lfs? either way i think im going to go to the lfs tomorrow anyway with him.

On a positive note my other male DG is making a bubble nest under the container the sick DG is on! what do i do with that now lol.

How is he?

LFS means local fish shop.

Hes still the same with no real improvement

Not seen him tilt sideways yet though. Seems to be upright with nose slightly higher than tail. Left pectoral fin still looks eroded but if i slightly nudge him he will swim using both fins. But as i say left one looks eroded around the edge and a tad smaller than the right. Hes still keeping in there.

Ok. Bless him.
Also soak his food in garlic juice it helps boost the immune system.

Thank you for the update.

Ok i will get some today and do that.

Im just worrued the other blue DG female i have was from the same tank at lfs as the sick one. She is hiding 99% of the time same as what the sick one kept doing but she looks ok condition. The other 2 red DG i have are not shy at all and swim about all day happily (they were from a different tank at lfs)

She might be ok.
Feed her some food soak in garlic juice aswell.

Just hope for the best.
You done all you can really by adding the med to the main tank aswell.

Just to update

all his fins are now rotting away

Took a turn for the worst today, fins rotted away very quickly. Discoloured quickly and pectoral fins (the only 1 good 1) rotted away and just died.

Am i in my rights to return him to the LFS?

Bless Him.
R.I.P.

I would phone the lfs. It depends on there policy.
They might want a tank water sample to make sure it wasn't bad water quality that killed him.

It sounded like a severe bacterial infection to me.

They said they will swap it for another within 48 hours, anytime after that then its nothing to do with them.

Nevermind, and thanks for your help.

I took a pic of him when dead and i can post it up if you like? maybe would help work out exactly what it could of been? he had severe rotting of the fins and a strange discolouration of the lower body..
