ok so heres whats happened. ill try and give as much info as i can to better help ya'll help me figure out whats wrong. i got a peacock eel about 2 months ago (mabe a lttle longer), he did great. he was active and eating well, i even had him eating from my hand 2 weeks after i brought him home :hyper: . well a few weeks ago i got a second one so he'd have some company. the guy that caught the second one at the pet store chased him forever before netting him. he died a few days later  , i assume from the shock. well since that one died, its been about a week or 2, my first eel has changed behavior. he quite eating as far as i know, he is skittish, and doesnt even act as though he knows me anymore (or alteast doesnt like me) and has put on his darker skin tone (he used to always have his night shade on... im assuming cause he was so relaxed and felt safe). iv considered what some of the problems could be and done my research but now im at a loss. a friend of mine who has kept fish for over a decade thought he might be depressed because he was in such a small tank (5 gallons), id get him a bigger one but i dont have the money just yet. i compromised and bought a 10 gallon, which he has now been in for a few days. i transfered him over with the old sand, bog wood, and a peice of the cultured filter material to ease up on the cycling. he shares it with a banjo catfish, a spotted cory cat (corydorus paleatus), 2 black kuhli loaches, and 3 fedder guppies that never got eaten. the only things in his environment that have changed (that i can think of) is the fact that i started using a plastic bucket to cure new water for water changes (which i believe has been lowering the pH, it gradualy changed over 3 weeks from 7.8 to 6.4), and i quite using conditioning salt... which is interesting because when i remembered that last one yesterday i put some in there and now, 24 hours later, im starting to see a little move activity from him than since he got "sick". so im wondering about the salt. im worried about using it all the time though cause corys arent supposed to have it all the time. other changes THAT HAPPENED AFTER HIS BEHAVIOR CHANGED inclued the move to the new tank and the absnce of a heater in the new tank. ok thats all i can think to tell yall right now. i havent tested the water in the new aquarium yet since its only been up a few days. if you think its important let me know and ill run the tests. i can check for pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. hardness and what not will require that i go to a LFS and have them use those strip things to do it for me. ok thinktank. what are your thoughts??? :good: :good: :good: :good:

oh and the water parameters have always been fine: amonia 0, nitrite 0, pH 7.8 Until just recently, nitates below 30... usually 10 or 5.
