Peacock, Datnoids, Nandus Nandus Feeding Vid

Gold fish are known to be very nutritionally poor and have high levels of thiaminase, a chemical which breaks down thiamin which is an essential B vitamim, if fed a diet of primarily goldfish fish become thiamin defficiant within a fairly short time which leads to problems with the central nervous system and difficulties with swimming and ultimately death.

A varied diet of silver sides, market shrimp and krill is a far healthier option and will provide the fish with all the essential vitamins and minerals that they need to maintain peak condition.
Here is a video showing my peacock bass and a whole host of other predatory fish being fed with a mixture of silver sides, mussels and shrimp, you dont lose any of the thrill of seeing the peacocks hitting their prey by feeding frozen. http://media.putfile.com/feeding33

nice looking fish cfc.your right it has the same effect with frozen.the fish behave excactly the same.i bet you get through a few bags of silver sides in a month

I go through an obseen ammount of food each week, 1 kg of whitebait, 500g of mussel, 250g of cockle and 300g of prawns, in all about £15 worth and thats without pellets and flake and bloodworm, daphnia etc for my smaller fish and my sons tank.

just bare in mind, swollowed whole doesnt mean painless, it means partially crushed then digested in the fish's stomache usually still alive.

I am not forcing my ideas on anyone, I am just freely expressing my opinion, as it is his to state that using live feeder fish is ok. I'm not going to forcibly stop him.

Ben

Nowhere in my post did I mention your name, I was saying in general.

I also didnt say totally painless, I said relatively. Its more humane and least painful for a fish to be swallowed whole than any other way a predator may kill (IE torn apart by piranhas). Its not painless or totally humane, but its as painless and humane as you can get in a situation like this.

Not a comment about feeding methods (mainly because I am unqualified to say anything)
I just wanted to say that Your tank is very beautiful. I noticed that the tank appears to be in front of a window-- Do you get green algea growth?

ok so we are giving the authority. i get that part. but does it give us the authority to sin? exp. if i tourtured a dog to death by not feeding it, or feeding feeding one fish to another would that be ok?

Yeah, it's okay (it's not a sin BTW)

Nope, I wanted the plants in there to get some natrual light.

That's true about goldfish... I'll start getting some minnows soon. Also about frozen food, I think it would make my life so much easier if I can get the peacock bass transfer to eatting it. Well I'll look around at the pet shops for some silver sides, mussels and shrimp next time around.

About the datnoids and Rainbow Shark... well this video was a while back... The rainbow shark got eaten because one day it just dissappered. and the datnoids, well I was doing some water changes and after I got done, I know for sure that I checked that everything was still running. Long story short, I went somewhere and came back, and someone turned off the WHOLE power outlet, (it must of been 4-6 hours without air.) the only one left now is the Bass and Catfish (which always hides). Don't know who did it because it was in my room and no one comes in my room unless I'm there.

I really love those Dats...

this is no need to feed live fish you can use river shrimp (ghost shrimp) its just as good
its dam cruel to use feeders as they have no were to escape at least in the wild they have a chance

the Ghost Shrimp have nowhere to escape...

why is it not cruel to feed live shrimp its just like keeping a 100neon tetras in a 4gallon tank compared to a betta in a cup
