i have just sold all my cichlids except keith and was wondering if a pair of peacock bass would be suitable for my tank.....

i know they get big but they are amazing fish and i know where i can get hold of 2 :hyper:

they currently live with oscars so that wouldnt be an issue hopefully. has anyone any experience with them or know anyone who has?

i remember looking into these a while ago nearly every profile i read said that they need very big tanks with 1 even quoting 10 ft for adults as they require a lot of swimming space and can get between 2 to 3 ft in length

the 2 for sale are about 9 inches mouth to tail. im not sure what the latin was but they were gorgeous and were eating pellets etc which is a good thing :good:

absolutely massive mouths on them :hyper:

yeah they have got cavernous maouths !! this is what it says on the profile i checked when i was looking into if i could get them or not.......and unsurprisingly the answer was not!!

More suited to public aquaria, otherwise a very large tank required. Ultimately, this fish will require a tank of at least 10'x3'x4' (l x h x w) for an adult fish. Smaller aquaria can be used for younger specimens but realistically you should not acquire this fish if you cannot house it long term.

altho theres several different species , i dont know if they all get that big

i think theres a species that is suitable for the hobby. but don't ask me what the latin name is, i just remember a while ago someone was looking at getting some and they were a smaller species.

I think that the quoted tank size is about right. These are amazing fish, with huge mouths, and an appetite to match. They are very active too. If I could house them properly, then I would love to own some.

It depends on The type you want. I personaly think it is weird to keep a game fish. These are prized fish for fisher man. Well the big ones. It would be like me keeping large mouth bass. Just weird to me. You need a pond or 5'x2'x2' could work for a little bit. But they should not be with other fish unless they are cichla. They like to be kept with their own kind.

Stay way from Cichla temensis that's the largest the 3 footer. The C. Inters only get 24" haha yeah that's the smaller kind. Maybe it will not grow past 16". just remember Most will be 2feet.

From what I have seen these fish are crazy are feeding time. Look up some videos on you tube.

Perca fluviatilis - Similar to the Bass, not sure how easy they are to get hold of apart from having a dip in the canal.
