Peacock Bass won't live

how many and what kind of cichlids in the 55 gallon? There are 1000's of cichlids, some are as peacefull as a Ram, or some can be huge and aggressive like a black nastey, Nandopsis haitiensis. So your experiance in the last has nothing to do withthe cichlids now, except if they were the same kind. And in the 55 how long did they live, and any unexplained deaths?

Should have been more specific. I had a 1 pacu, 1 oscar, 1 red devil, 2 angels, 2 large plecos, 2 jack dempseys and a jag.

Had to get rid of the Red devil because he kept going after everything, he was also the last fish added to the tank. Before and after I had him, everything was fine and healthy for atleast a year until I moved and gave them away.

Most fish are like cats and dogs, they won't get a long if they are grown up and you throw them in a box together, but if you raise them together, then the will most likely get along. For the most part...

 Holy Crap! Did you know how big these fishes get? Did you know how aggressive some of these fishes are? Who told you it was alright to keep these fishes within a 55 gallon? How long have you kept fishes? Where did you learn about cichlids? What in earth could you have possibly been thinking when you set up this tank?

That set up is worse! You need some help in stocking your tanks majorly!!

Angel fish are like little neon tetras to that group! Thank god you got rid of them and they can hopefully live good long life, as they woulndt if you still had them!

You really should get rid of all but three 3 cichlids in your current tank. Especially the channel cat fish. 4 foot fish really need hundreds of gallon tanks each. I would say you probably would need at least 5000 gallon tank to hold those fish when sub adults. Even bigger when grown fully.

you have to easily be the stupidest idiot i've ever met thank you come again

Is it possible whoever advised you on setting up your tank and purchasing your fish was drunk? I am sorry that every one has been criticizing you but you need to take purchasing fish seriously and not just throw fish in like it's nobody's business. There is no way you could get away with treating any other animal like this, I mean if you threw 10 pit bulls in one kennel the animal cruelty groups would be on your @$$, it just happens that you did this to fish and most people don't care about fish as much as the furrier pets available.

While I don't certainly don't agree with the decisions hocysk8er has made for his tank, it is in fact his tank. Is it overstocked? I believe it is. Is it a dangerous combination of fish? Undoubtedly. Has anyone else here seen the tank first hand to know if the fish really are getting along? Don't think so. Is big trouble in most of these fishes' futures? You betcha, especially given the "survival of the fittest" comment (from which I'm still trying to retrieve my jaw from the floor). We pretty much all agree that hocysk8er isn't the same kind of hobbyist most of us are. It appears to me he's either a total newbie or just doesn't have any regard for life. But name-calling and the like aren't going to change anyone's mind. In fact, if this were a face-to-face conversation rather than posts to a forum made from the safety of one's computer, it's a safe bet that punches would have been thrown a long time ago! Everybody needs to CHILL!
