I have a few questions concerning paypal. Can you open a paypal account with a minor's bank account and then take money from my bank account and buy stuff from drs. foster and smith and bigals?

thanks :good:

I'm not sure if I understand. You ask the following...

Q. Open a Paypal account with your bank account.
A. I'm sure Paypal will allow you to open an account as long as you have a bank account.

Q. Take money from your bank account to pay for something at Dr. Fosters.
A. No. Dr. Foster's cannot debit (take out) from your bank account for purchases. Dr. Foster allows payments by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

I think the minimum age required to open an account at Paypal is 16.

Some stores accept Paypal as a payment method, but neither Drs Foster Smith nor Big Al's does.

Paypal issues a debit card for premier accounts I believe, but most banks do too for your checking account.

The premier accounts charge you for every payment you recieve, where as the personal accounts only charge you a fee when you recieve credit card-funded payments.

Ohh.. Paypal just started this program where you can use money in your paypal account and use a virtual visa card for website that dont accept paypal.. Its really neat, I do alot of ebay selling and I use that money to buy my supplies. The virtual credit card works awsome and it just takes the money out of your paypal account..

Be very careful with paypal, you can end up out of pocket and have little comeback.

I understand that in the US, although they operate as a bank, thay are not caught by banking provisions and regulations. Very nasty.

In the UK they are governed by the FSA, so there is a little more security.

Do a google search about paypal errors and you will soon find people that have lost a lot of money in dealings with paypal.

I find that most people who've had problems with Paypal is of their own fault. You'll also notice a number of the Paypal haters either own or are trying to gain referrals for alternatives.

I have good reason to hate PayPal. I sold a boat last year. It took 3 weeks for the money to be transferred to me after the guy had paid with his Paypal account. Thats how they make money, and have you ever tried to talk to them with a problem? ....forget it!!!

Wont touch them now anything i sell on ebay is cash or cheque. And i sell a fair bit.

wow response, thanks. Well I was thinking of getting a debit card but I heard they aren't all that secure online either because if somebody gets your number they can drain your bank account and not get caught. I was planning on just using paypal to recieve a little money for shipping for stuff and maybe selling.

So I'm wondering if I made a new bank account just for this would it be a bit more secure then?

I guess there's mixed feelings about it, though isn't that the way most things are?

live aquaria is a great website. so good choice of a site to buy from :good:

once you have the number for your account it will automatically do stuff for you. i think that website has you enter the paypal email and then you pay for it by following the link. :)

Well, with my bank account, I keep it all in the savings and move it over to checking only when I need to use it. When the checking account's empty, the debit card can't draw money.

how would 'somebody' get your debit card details? I use paypal with my debit card. It's perfectly safe.

PayPal is the biggest damn cash-cow on the planet - fair play, whoever thought that one up is pure genius. I only ever use it if a seller insists on it or buying / selling abroad.

I am not 'against PayPal', but the charges are extortionate!

BEWARE
My wife got an email (here we go, but almost caught us out), in the PayPal format saying something like:
From: accounts@PayPal.org
Transferance of funds of £49.99 for 1off: Bowie Knife from your account accepted.
Thank you.
The PayPal Team.

She thought 'Aye?? Bowie Knife??? FIFTY QUID!!! Not me, must be a mistake, so duly 'clicked here' (via the email link!!!!!) and logged in.

She did this as I watched.

I tell you, you have never seen a bloke move so quickly!! I closed that internet link & the e-mail (and binned the bloody thing) & got her to log into the PROPER PAYPAL.COM website and change her password....

That was a close one!

Andy
