Hello all,
Long story...
From the start... Everthing has been fine for the years that the aquarium has been running no major problems UNTIL... Ich! claimed around £75 pounds worth of stock in fish and more are infected. The only things I have left that are not infected are 3 danios and 3 scissor tailed tetras also unknown numbers of khuli loaches possibly 4 I think.
Gettin bored of not that much plants and looking at the planted section of the forum made me serge on to buy lots of plants from eBay, I brought 7 bunches of "assorted plants" elodia etc and I also bought some carpet plants - Java Moss. Also, stupidly I bought 3 Angel fish from World of Water. MISTAKE! WILL NEVER DO AGAIN! All these factors could have brought it in but nevertheless I have ich...
What I plan to do is
1) Rip out all plants, decor etc
2) Boil bogwood
3) Replace internal filter with an external (fluval 105)
4) clean top layer of gravel
5) Remove unaffected fish and put in storage box accommodation for a bit.
6) Remove all water
7) Install new filter
8) Re-fill with clean water
9) Put in new plants... (going with a minimalist theme)
10) Put back in the bogwood
11) Add remaining fish
Questions:
Will my old filter media be effected by the ich parasite and come back through the filter adding the good bacteria?
Does anyone have the Fluval 105 external filter? And like it?
-----------
Thanks in advance,
Tom.
