Hi all!

Was just wondering about the rate of growth in panda corys.

I have a nice group of mixed corys, all bought roughly at the same time and all growing nicely... except my panda's. Are they just small or is there something wrong?

They feed fine and have started coming out for a swim about when its not feeding time, but are still just as tiny as when I got them.

It's only been a couple of months, but my sterbi, albino and bronze have all doubled in size just about.

I feed them twice a day and its always a good mix (for all my fish) of dried stuff in the morning (flake, pellets etc) and and some frozen cubes at nighttime.

Cheers

any info pages i read describe pandas being smaller than bronze/albino/pepper etc., and the adults i got certainly are.

would help if you stated how long yours were, to compare against their maximum expected length...

As far as I understand it pandas are smaller than other corys but still not as small as the dwarfs and pygmies

Thanks folks.

They are roughly the same length as a memory stick for a phone.

I never knew they were smaller than other corydora TBH, and never even knew you could get dwarf ones!

Live and learn

Cheers

Hi garyspence84 :)

C. pandas are indeed smaller than the other corys you have, but they still grow to a nice size. Here's a group that is fully grown and had been spawning for me.

There's also the possibility that they have been stunted at some point in their development. Before we get into that, please take a look at the picture and your C. pandas, and see if you think their development is satisfactory for the age you believe them to be.

Yeh they look about the same size as mine to be honest.

Thanks very much for clearing this up for me, I was starting to worry that I was doing something or something.
