ok my fish has something new. every once in a while my fish gets really pale so pale i can see though his top fins. then ten minutes his color returns and he still acts like he is perfectly fine. i have not clue what is going on help. i don't think he is sick and to think back this started shortly after i switched from using spring water in his tank to the schools tap water. (that had sat out for a week)
shouldi just though in some stress coat?

i always use water conditoner,, any brand will do i use api i think, it will take any metals or clorine out of the water,, schools water also might be high or low ph. do you have a water test kit? some water stats might help solve your problem

my guys will lose their color and look clear when very stresssed.... when forest, tweek, red, and dragon were shiped they looked horrible almost clear, and for the next few weeks any slight stress made them lose color again,, now they all gorgous, dragon is bright red and pink, tweek is bubblegum pink and forest is dark green almost black,, allready sold red though he was very happy too.

all normal?
ph
nitrates
nitrites
amonia
hmmmm....... i would try a water conditoner, alot of city water has clorine and maby even floride added,, pluss if it has rained alot the city water company somtines even adds more chemicals to help the dirt settle,, usually would never bother a human but fish are pretty tiny. do you use salt at all? only use aquarim salt. table salt with iodine in it can kill them. no more salt then a half teaspoon per gallon,, will help heal up the fins. is he stressed at all? how do u change his water? do you scoop him out and put him in a little cup or do you just suck 25 to 50 % out at a time with a airline tube? do you have a heater in the tank? whats the temp? most bettas like it somwhere between 78 to 82 degrees farinheight,, not sure what celcious equals to.is he still eating? what do you feed him and how much? if all else fails get a picture and try to post in the emergencys section. if he seems really sick try to get a hold of ,,,,, wilder ,,,, he is crazy knowlagble about all sorts of dieses and illnesses.

his appitite is normal, he is a little pigging, as is his behavior. in fact he is doing things he hasn't done in weeks. the strips i use test general hardness carbonate hardness ph and nitrate levels all at ones they were only slightly elevated the ph and gh but not at alarming levels. i put in stress coat last night and he beat me up this morning which is normal for him normally. i normally wrap a towel around his tank to keep light out until morning because i watch tv late at night and the street lights stream into the room and he doesn't sleep.
his tank temp is 81 degrees last i checked. so you think this could be something to do with stress? i ask but normally it occurs shortly after i leave the room for like 10 or more minutes without my computer (when i go to class i take the computer always) i return to the room and he is pale, but shortly after a return and start fussing over him because he has paled that he color fully returns.
he is and odd fish at best.

my red tailed shark did this, I tihnk he was gettin hassled by the betta though

I looked in the tank, and is tail was completely pail, i did some weights, looked back and the colour returned
