Painted Background Removal

hello ive just purchased a juwel trigon off ebay i noticed the background was blue but assumed it was just a plastic stick on, got it home and realised it had been painted with what looks like emulsion. is there anyway to remove it without damaging the glass?

thats what i was thinking hot soapy water and a razor blade

Hot Soapy Water. And a window scraper blade, like this

Used them on my tanks and works brilliant, Just make sure to wash the tank down with Water and vinegar mix at the end of the scraping to remove any trace of the soapy water mate

Then Re spray the background black

lol thats exactly what i plan to do, spray paint it black afterwards.
