As requested by several people over on a different forum, here are a few shots of the new 5mm 'ultra glass' cubes available from Pets at Home. These are of the 27L version (30x30x30, £39), there is also a 15L version (£29). Though I'd cross-post it here in case anyone is after a nice cheap shrimp house.

Silicon is minimal to the point of almost invisible on the side panels, thicker and less neat at the base but would be hidden by substrate. It has a slight green tinge at the joins but otherwise seems very clear. I've never owned an opti-white tank so I really couldn't compare, but it looks good to me.

Light looks nice (11w), filter looks a bit naff but has a spray bar and speed adjustment. Both work very well, the filter actually seems to provide pretty good flow if you can live with its looks, and the light is a nice clean white colour. Both are night on silent. No heater supplied, but tank does come with a thin mat to sit it on and a glass cover. The little clip-on corner braces that hold the cover glass slide off easily and I doubt they do anything structural, so could easily remove if you wanted it open-top.

was eyeing these up the other day, there is a thread in the planted featuring them. They look well built don't they. A nice little planted shrimp nano on the cards Tom?

Ah, must have missed the thread in planted. First impressions certainly very good.

Yup, just want to keep a backup shrimp colony going and always fancied a little nano. Won't get a chance to scape it for a while as I'm off on field work until July soon, but figured I'd pick one up while they were available.

look forward to it Tom! and nice review.

Was looking at these the otherday, Still very tempting :) hows the lighting... do you think its decent enough with a mini co2 kit that it could grow nicely :)

Looking forward to see how this develops :) may have too get one myself after looking at this :) i do fancy a little nano.

Light seems good, no odd colour casts and seems pretty bright enough at 11w. To be honest I'm mainly a low-tech kind of guy so wouldn't like to give advice RE: CO2 setups!

I'l probably replace the light with an LED lamp, just because I'm fed up of tracking down the right bulb ;P

I don't know whether to use a HOB filter or one of those undersized externals (will e a planted setup, with CO2)

Phew picked mine up today, was the last of the small ones :D

Will have to stay in its box until i move on the 04th, but gives me time to get all the gubbinz for it.

I've got a little solid state heater, and will be taking one of the Eheim liberty HOBS from my other tank (going to install a small external in that tank possibly),

Then it's be deciding on best substrate, wood rocks, plants etc. :D

Im gonna have a look at these little beauties in my local P@H tomorrow morning. Chances are ill end up coming away with one haha

i was gonna nobble one for my cory fry to grow up in until they a re big enough for the main tank

went to P@H just to see these, and they had one 27l left, i was trying to find the 15l cuz the wife said the 29l was too big for the desk :(

Seems like a few people are having trouble getting hold of these. We have loads of them at our local P@H i walked in expecting there too be a couple

Seems like the fishkeepers arent as keen up here.
