Hello i am new to this forum,
i have a 55 gallon aquarium(freshwater) and i was just wondering if its over stocked
here is a list of my fish and sizes

4 tiger barbs---2inch each
1 black skirt barb---2inch
1 severoum---4-5inch
3 blood fin tetras---1inch each
3 red wag platys---1.2inch each
2 bala sharks----2 inch each
2 plecos----2 inch
1 panther loach--2inch
1 pearl gorami---2.2inch

that's all they all get along great and the tank has plants and what not in it. just want to make sure its all good.

2 balasharks need to be rehomed as soon as possible, Ask a LFS to take them back or find them a bigger home.

2 plecos, Need more info on these. Are they common? Bristlenoses?

Rehome Severoum - Severums grow to a maximum size of 12 inches/30 centimetres (a foot long)

Need more barbs or you'll have issues with fin ripping, Unsure about the rest.

Ok, it is not an awful stocking but has a few problems.
1. Need to increase tiger barbs by at least 6. Needs to be in a large school. Return the black skirt and up the tigers.
2. Tetras - need larger schools. need a minimum of 3 more, preferably 7-10 more.
3. Balas need to go, will grow too large and too aggressive. Need a much larger system .
4. Plecos - what kinds?

This is just the basic ones that have immediately popped out.

Also, how long has your tank been set up?

edit: Ninjad by Techen lol

one of the plecos is bristle nose the other is just a normal one. and yeah i was already planing on getting rid of the black skirt and getting more tiger barbs and more tetras the bala sharks i really like and don't want to get rid of them but if i have to maybe i will i'm not sure. could i get rid of the bala sharks and replace them for tiger barbs or would that not work?

By normal do you mean common? If so it can get over a foot and a half long and should not be in your tank. They need 100+ gallons easily to withstand their size and bioload.

Getting rid of the balas and getting an even larger shoal of tigers would be great. Also, tigers come in three color stains and can be mix and matched if you prefer - - regular, green, and albino. You could make an awesome tank with a large group of them.

well it must not be common then cuz i've had it for over 3 years in several tanks and its not grown at all

A picture might help in identifying the fish. To me it sounds like an Otocinclus if it's been with you for 3 years and is only 2 inches.

A google search for "Panther Loach" showed results for Pangio Kuhlii (Kuhlii Loach). I don't have much advice on these fish but I have heard from various sources that they need to be kept in groups of 6 or more.

The links you gave don't work for me (404 error).

One way to upload photos to the forum is to sign up to photobucket or imageshack or some other image hosting site and uploading your photos there, then just post the links to the forum post.

If this "Pleco" has stayed around 2 inches for 3 years than I wouldn't worry about it getting too big for your tank.

I have green and tiger barbs and they all school together and look fantastic. It's hard to rehome fish that you really like, especially bring them back to the store, but in the end it's better for them, and your tank will be better off as well. Get more barbs, they're even better in larger numbers!!
