It's not really secret, it's just that if it was there for everyone to see some members would start posting silly things just to get to the next level. If it reflected the number of useful posts that would be different, but it just reflects the total number of posts. Someone could make half a dozen fish related posts and hundreds of posts in General Chat and still get higher in the title ladder.
It's meant as a bit of fun, not to be taken seriously.

Since this thread is alive again. Where can I find out how many demerit points I have so then I can figure out how risky I can be. I know I have at least one but can't find it anywhere.

There should be reasons why we post so much in the titles: person who gets up too early and needs something to go with coffee drinking - retired and bored - homeschooled and at a loose end - under house arrest - living in a really rainy place - the kids are asleep - prone to indigestion - would rather fight than eat - things like that.
