I was doing my weekly water change in my quarantine tank, and noticed something that looked like a worm hanging from my an oto I got a week and a half ago. It was right at the base of his pectoral fin. I netted him, and found that it was actually the bony plate at the base of his pectoral fin protruding from is skin, with a bit of dangly white tissue hanging from it ( "the worm"). I had noticed him acting a little bit sedentary the last few days, but for the most part he was active and normal, and would just stop for a break every few minutes. Anyways, the fin was barely attached by a small flap of skin, and it fell off in the net.
Ph 8.2
Nitrite/ammonia 0
Nitrate 5
currently medicating with jungle parasite clear, due to gill flukes in another oto I got at the same time.
I check the parameters every few days.
So, my question is, since he appears to be healthy otherwise (I suspect he was injured by the collector at the lfs, because I haven't touched him since introduction) what can I do to increase his chance of survival/speed of healing process?
Thank you
