Tonight I have been noticing that my 2 Oscars are swimming around each other all the time and circling each other. I'm guessing this is first signs of pairing/breeding, slightly panicking :/ lol, As I have no idea about breeding, from what I know Oscars won't spawn much before they're about 6'

my 2 Oscars are currently 2.5', I'm guessing they are still young but to know exactly how old, no idea.

Can anybody offer advice, what to do when they are at the stage, I read that I may have to put a flat piece of rock so that the oscars can place their eggs?

I maybe over thinking about this but I just want to be prepared If and When it happens by asking people who have been there and got the t shirt sorta speak

Sounds like they are just showing off to each other trying to work out a pecking order - at 2 inches they are unlikely to lay eggs at all but could show pairing behavior if they are 1 male 1 female.

They dont have to have a smooth rock in the tank, sometimes they will just move the substrate out of the way and then lay it on the flat glass or even just on the tank walls.

What size tank is this btw? Lots of big fish in there sounds nice :D

Ah right, tidy thanks for that. Lol Might have a lil bet with the misses in regards to who the boss of the tank will be :S My head is telling me one of the oscars but although smaller than them ATM is the Jack Dempsey lol.

I have a 450l tank, I know I'm overstocked abit But I'm seeing how it goes, how fast they will actually grow because it kinda sucks, seeing a massive tank like that with just 1 or 2 small fish albeit they will grow massive

Yeah you might run into trouble... 6x2x2 might be in order :)

I know big tanks are tough when the fish are small but they do grow fast especially your oscar, sev and plec! :)
