Just curious if its possible? I know CAE's can get pretty aggressive, but would they be ok with an oscar? LOL I quite like CAE's it'd be nice if I could add one in with Merlin

Hmmm I've been using google and so far two separate things have said Oscars are fine with CAE's whereas others have said Chinese algae eaters only go for fish smaller then them or slow moving fish and some others say they shouldn't be kept full stop.
Anyone shed some light?

Sorry for the repeated posts LOL.
Merlin my baby Oscar's currently a bit less then 2 inch, I'm doing an upgrade as you go method, as it ends up working out cheaper by waiting for deals to come up on ebay, but if by the time he's ten months and no big tanks have come up, I'll bite the bullet and buy him a brand new tank, yes I do have the money for it, I'm just a miser LOL, and hey if I can save some money I can always use the extra to upgrade one of my other tanks.
But I'm looking for a tankmate for him to grow up with, he's in a temporary 20g tank for the mo, but I just paid for his 55g and whenever someone comes and fixes our road which has been washed away by the storm I'll pick it up and set it up for him.
I'm slowly getting together a list of possible fish, please note I only want one of these choices and the end tank should be 125-150g
1 kissing gourami (from what I've read they are compatible, and I quite like em)
4 silver dollars (kinda boring)
1 convict (some sites I've read have said they are way to aggressive for oscars?)
1 CAE (I really like CAES, but haven't found any info about compatibility)
1 Severum (as above, haven't found info about compatibility between an O and Sev with no dithers)
Choices I do not want
Plecos (At $75 a pop, their a bit too much for me)
Clown Loaches (not planning on a tank large enough for a school of 8+)
Another Oscar (am paranoid about them breeding LOL)
The fave choice would def be a CAE with a kisser coming in at a close second LOL

Well still talking to myself but hey, I think I've got it down to two choices
Either a) a red tailed shark and a golden chinese algae eater and my oscar
