Can I put 2 oscars in a 55 gallon tank or only one?
Do they eat live foods such as goldfish, minnows or brine shrimp?
Are they really that messy?
ARE THEY FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!???
You can just fit 1 in there, if you keep the tank well cleaned. Yes they are messy. Is your tank cycled? I would not recommend feeding them live food. Most like goldfish, cary diseases that will get your oscar sick. They are very fun and personable.
I'm giving you a bit of a hard time... I know ur here for expert advice.
I'm no expert though . But... I can tell you 1 oscar will grow on you. I bought a brand new 75g tank for my O ($$$$) and he just has a sailfin pleco with him. I was well aware of the "only 1 fish for such a large tank" problem.... but even knowing this was getting worried I made the wrong decision getting a juvie oscar for the tank.
Well..... A couple months down the road I couldn't be happier. "Water Dogs" is really the best name to give oscars and I highly recommend getting 1 for a 55 gallon. Lots of fun and full of personality.
nope you can never get bored
but my oscars are in a community tank,,,
how i have a solo jag in a tank, hes just great, but depends really on what you want
they are funny, cheeky, naughty, and can be kept with some other fish, Jambo never fails to entertain me, wath them wagg their tails at feding time, or beg and then tell me they are boring
and yes they will eat anything that will fit in their mouths, and they are very messy, but doesnt mean is gonna make it harder work for you,you just need and excellent filter.the pro`s far outweigh the cons where oscars are concerned
i like horses, but as i dont have the money nor the space, im not gonna get them and shove them in shed thats obviously too small and inadequate for them! i will wait and see what the future brings!
if you cant provide the neccesary things, dont get one! save up and wait!
