Do you think I could keep a baby oscar in a 29 gallon tank for a few months? This is only until I get a larger tank. And when I go get another tank, for it (if I do get it) what size should that one be?

yes, you can keep a small oscar in a 29g tank. but the oscar has to be smaller than 2 inches if you don't want to stunt it's growth. only get one if you are 100% sure you will be able to buy a 75g+ tank within a few months. they grow like monsters.

Seconded. Depending on who you talk to, you can get away with a single oscar in a 55gal... but absolutely only 1 oscar and nothing else.

Lots of water changes and good filtration if you are going to keep him in a 29 gallon. Best to just have patience and get the oscar when you have an appropriate home though....

true...if you're upgrading eventually, why not wait? you could do a lot of other cool stuff with the 29, and the oscar would be way more comfortable being in the same tank it's whole life.

Like others said it can be done if the oscar is small when purchased, but I'm agreeing with dave, why not wait until you have the tank the oscar will eventually go into. Thats the best solution by far.
