Thanx everyone and the arguements o.0 but will an oscar be able to feed on those 7 days trip feeding blocks while i'm gone?

Those feeder blocks are infamous for fouling the water, with aquarists coming home to a tank with dead fish and cycling issues.

A healthy adult fish can easily go for two weeks without eating, and controlling diet along with other aspects of the environment are common ways of inducing spawning in certain species. For a good read check out http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/breedi...%20seasons.html

Vitamin deficiency, along with poor water quality are the main causes of HITH, and pristine water, along with a vitamin enriched diet are the best road to take for a cure. As juan mentioned, a good cichlid pellet offers a more nutritionally balanced diet, and pellets soaked in a liquid vitamin are one way of getting vitamins into a fish affected with HITH.

Oscars are more omnivores than pure piscavores, and getting them used to a diet that includes pellets should be easy compared to many other cichlids. Sure, they may get moody and do the famous oscar sulk routine if not fed for several days days, they will often do the same after tank maintenance, changes outside their tank, and a host of other reasons. I don't think anyone would suggest slacking on maintenance or having someone's entire personal environment outside the tank revolve around a moody oscar.

he's only about 5 inches? Does that mean he can last 2 weeks without food?

he would be fine to go without for a week, but if you had some family or friends that could look in on him from time to time that would be best maybe have throw in just a few pellets for em.
