hi, my uncle is getting rid of all his fish, including his baby oscars, i was wondering if i could have one of his oscars and put the oscar in my 39gal, 4ft tank with 2 adult angel fish, krib pair and a pleco, for a month or so, until i get my 55gal?

he said i can have the oscar for free, but he has to give them away soon, they are around 1" 1/2.

I wouldn't see why it would be a problem, keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get too agressive with the angels and krib. If he does though make sure you have atleast a seperator to seperate them till' you get that 55g.

Having a divider handy is good advice for all cichlid keepers. If the Oscar is only 1 1/2" I would be more concerned about the Kribs picking on it than the other way round. Should be fine short term though. :good:

A 55 gal isn't really big enough for an adult Oscar by the way - a full grown Oscar should be in a min tank of 75 gallons.

ok thanks for that, th 55gal i was buying was £59.99, that was for the tank and lid, how much do you think a 75gal would be?
