oscar and new fish fighting

i dont know what hte new fish is called but the oscar and it keep fighting. should i leave them in there and they will get used to each other or ... what? they are about the same size

If they haven't taken a break from fighting , split them up for the time being .

It would help to know what the other fish is .

cant say i know the name of that fish, but what size tank is it because it may of claimed the tank for its self and doesnt want any other fish in it.

has a bichor, oscar, and a stupid gourmi in it

should i leave them in there together and just see what happens?

I'm not sure what fish that is, but I know when I had a severum with my Oscar they were fighting and wouldn't stop. I eventually had to get rid of the sev and it is a 140g tank, so with a 70g you may well have the same problem.
Have you tried completely rearranging the tank? That may confuse the fish into thinking they are somwhere new and having to re establish territory. Not promising anything, but it may help!!

The other fish is a big male nicaraguense,which can be pretty nasty.
How large is the oscar?

I was going to say Parrot Cichlid when i first seen it but i thought people would say your nuts Vip. You have one hell of a rare fish there little is known about but those web pages should help you out heaps.

yeh in the above website it says theyre often mistaken for parrots(not blood parrots) because of their shape and other reasons

thanks alot guys this really helps me out. =) i want to get a new tank (bigger) like a 125 gal or somthing so i can put him in it with a few other big cichlids.
