Hi,

The picture on any juwel filter box show the flow of water coming in the top going down the filters and brought back out from the bottom. Which is correct and as expected.

But the pictures always show the water comming throught the finest filter then going through progressively coarser filters.

In my mind the water should go through coarse filter and progessing through finer filters each time.

Could these images all be wrong or there something wrong with my logic?

Thanks

from the bottom
course (blue)
fine (blue)
nitrate (green)
carbon (black)
floss (white)

Thanks, That is correct as per the picture. But does not everything just get caught up in the floss at the top? and with a exit between the green and two blues, I can't see a lot going through them.

And again why through the fine blue then the coarse blue?

Your post matches exactly what their pdf states. It just seemed an ilogical order for the uninitated person such as I.

Thanks
as i see it the fine floss takes out the poo etc as the coarse media is for bacteria growth. If it were the other way around the coarse media would glog up therefore inhibating bacterial growth

hi,
I'm with you on this as i thought exactly the same thing but it seems as though things have changed since days gone by, like when you clean an ehiem filter and all the course particles get trapped at the top. i find it should be the other way around but i think it would make it harder to clean so having the "polishing pad" on the top makes this easy to change, rinse out. ive got the juwel rio 400L and it does a great job of filtering my tank mechanically and biologically
