Hi Guy's,

Does anyone know if these are any good? Seem pretty cheap specially being an 'all in one' solution. It'd be my first attempt at marine , would this be ok?

Is there many fish that i could get for something so small though? Charterhouse aquatics do live rock for 5kg for £54 would this be all required equipment for the tank ?

I've got an RO Unit already sat in the house doing nothing , presumably it's just the refractometer/ salt and testing kits needed on top of this ?

Cheers Ben

They are good little tanks, but you can barely keep anything in them - go for the larger one if you can

Try to buy from a reefer breaking down a tank, £5 a kilo and usually has more life

Goby and shrimp combo would be nice, with maybe a blue or yellow assessor

and an extra powerhead, food, phosphate remover

Hi' Seffie ,

Thanks for answering all of my questions:)

Whats the best sized tank thaqt'd give me a few options on stocking? I know marine is more expensive but was hoping to get something not terribly expsensive , hoping to get the tank and equipment less than £500

Good Suggestion , they seems to be really good price too, look good:)

Any suggestions on what i could possibly stock it with , then i can i take a look at what i can have and deicde if i want to take a dip into the salty side yet! if they dont appeal to me i'll save up for a larger tank which acomadates fish that look smart:)

Clown fish
Blenny
Goby
Damsels

Not all of them, maybe a few, due to aggression etc.

if it was my tank i'd have 2 clown fish and a yellow watchman goby! :good:

Use this to find more info! :) its a really good site.

Thanks for the link , i've book marked it. I've had a quick look and theres so many nice fish that require big tanks. I think i'll get a small tank then knowing me end up upgrading to house some bigger fish.

With the stocking you suggested would i still be able to get shrimps/ crab type inverts as well?

Yep! :) ;- dont see why not.
Some snails (turbo, nass, cerith etc)
Hermit Crabs (blue legged)
A Shrimp

In the 550 or a tank of approx 125 litres, you would be able to keep a pair of clowns, a goby or blenny, maybe a firefish, an assessor, fairy wrasse. then a couple of shrimps and of course snails to clean up :good:

I wouldn't buy anything smaller than 125 litres, it limits your choice too much. The rio 125 is also a good tank but you would then need to buy all the bits separately, but to be honest that is sometimes the best and cheapest way anyway :good:

ps there are several journels in the nano section which have used the orca 550, including my own!

Cheers for the suggestion:)

I like the look of the all in one solution as it's first time going into marine i don';t want to be getting to confused setting it all up:)

I'm going to take a look through the journals now!

Cheers for the help:)

Just seen your journal seffie, think i'll leave that until i have a good bit of time to myself! Well loads of information but i don't think my head can handle that much ! lol

Should have a tank and equipment sorted by October (birthday then so can get the mrs to buy most of the smaller equipment) Never know what might come up as i have a 4x2x2 that i have stocked with Polpyterus's but if i upgrade that i migght have that free.

Anyone used one of these? Is £200 about right price for this ?

No i haven't - the tank usually sells for about £450 new, so half that price if about a year old would be expected - did a quick google - my only concern, as always with AC is never hand over any money until you have seen the tank and done a deal :good: There have been several scams going on over the last few years, they will ask you for the money up front or a deposit and thats the last you see of the money. Now I'm sure there are lots of genuine sellers on there as well and they will not mind you paying cash on collection i'm sure.
