for those who dont know my tank i have a 100 uk gallon tank with red spotted sev ( in avatar) green sev blue acara ( w/c female) geophagus surinamensis ( re-homed yesterday) featherfin synodontis senegal bichir and 8 tiger barbs .

the problem is the green sev is very timid due to being bullied by the geo which i removed yesterday. the sev is a bit more out-going now but still hides in the corner because teh blue acara hates it. the acara has become besotted with vinny for some reason and as vinny likes to swim around with my green sev the acara chases the green sev all the time and beats up on it.
as the tank is to be built around my sevs ( sevs are my passion) i have reluctantly decided my acara has to be re-homed.
so this leaves a big gap in my stocking. im looking at 2 possible options either have the sevs as the only 2 cichlids and adding some more dithers or adding a more peaceful cichlid something along the lines of a sajica.

as for dithers im not really into rainbows but i was thinking possibly giant danios or maybe some of the larger tetras . if i decide to go down the dither route im after some suggestions of what could work with both the sevs and the barbs. i have had gouramis with the sevs before no probs but i didnt have the tiger barbs then and would be worried about nipping .

any ideas/ suggestions greatfully received.

ps no point in trying the whole removing fish/re-arranging tank routine etc as its not a territorial dispute its a simple case of the acara wont let any other fish go near vinny.

If you want to just add more dithers, then obviously whichever you prefer, the TB's are in a large enough group for them not to bother any other fish IMO, I have never had problems with TB's nipping or bullying other fish as Ive always kept them in large groups, so if you want another gourami, I dont think you will have a problem.

I like giant danios, I know lots of people find them boring, but they would make a nice dither in a large group, 6 minimum as they can be prone to being nippy in small groups.

Do you not still have the corydora group?

ooops lol thought i listed the corys. yeah i still got those. think im leaning towards either giant danios or a sajica at the moment .

Can be skittish, least the group I had were a long time ago, but beautiful fish and suitable for your tank.

been looking at them a lot last few months i quite like em .

so far im thinking id deffo like a sajica and then a shortlist of either upping the tiger barbs ( prob wont tho as want a bit of variety) giant dannios or congo tetras. but will probably surf around teh net looking at other alternatives before reaching a final decision.

What about the the Buenos Aires Tetra? They are larger and make good dither fish. They also would add a dash of color.

Could also consider other cousins to the Con/Saj such as Cutteri maybe? (not sure how it ranks aggression wise)

Add a second blue acara. Or remove the current blue acara and replace it with another one.
