Hi all,
Just a question about soll Bactinetts. I just wondered whether anyone has tried this and if it works.
What were your experiences with it, if you have tried it that is?

Thanks all!

From previous posts, i've read that it helps but it isn't an "instant cycle". Just check your levels and make sure your hitting prime stats when you add inhabitants.

I think it's the best stuff since sliced bread. I find it to be fantastic. It is the only product I recommend to people at work when they need instant bacterial help. It's easy to use, it genuinely works and is fantastic value for money (£5.50 to treat 100 litres). I strongly recommend this product to everyone. Forget fishless cycles - use bactinettes.

i have spoken to several people in maidenhead aquatics near st albans (both employees and customers) and they all seem to like it, never personally used it though :) speak to the manager there he has been keeping fish for 37 years he seems to give pretty good advice.

Hey timmyhood, Good to know its worked for you!!

What process did you have to go through. How did you use it? I know every tank has different requirements due to the volume etc, but its just so I have a rough idea :)

As I said to you last night but you dont seem to trust my judgement I used 6 pots on my 150g and then added all this over 2 days
texas
oscar
red shoulder severum
Jack Dempsy
5 silver dollars
senegal birchir
palmas birchir
fire eel
sorubim lima
ornate pim
2 royal plecs

Now if this didnt raise my stats im sure the type of fish your looking to stock will be fine.

I am taking your judgement into account but its worth asking others too :good: It may have worked for you, but not with others, but looks like its a great product by the others comments too! Seems like they've had the luck you have (adding that many fish with no deaths is saying something!)
Please don't presume I didn't believe you when you said you added fish straight away, I was just getting other opinions as it was suggested in the other thread.
Take care all

Luck has nothing to do with it. Its the beneficial bacteria that you need its the same as all the people offering you filter media.

Ok, so I put the word "luck", when I should have put the word "results", theres no need to be rude about it :shout:
And to think you were being so supportive at first, now your just digging at everything i put.....
Oh well, can't please everyone.....

seems to mee that these are quite good, i have got them free when buying my new tank but i would like to know what you do with them.
Do you just drop them into the fish tank or do you put them into the filter?

I'm a bit scepticle about stuff like this.
This is what it says on the website
Bactinettes are active capsules consisting of millions of hungry bacteria that feed on hazardous nitrogen substances. The newly developed, live microorganisms ensure optimal aquarium water. When Bactinettes are placed in the filter, ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are quickly decomposed – with immediate and long-term results. When a new aquarium is set up, Bactinettes allow fish to be stocked immediately. Another benefit: No more waiting for the filter to be ready! Bactinettes can be used with any type of filter. An overdose of Bactinettes is not possible.
As good as it sounds, I cant see how its gonna work. Yea, it says that its got millions of hungry bacteria... Thats where I'm gonna stop. If they are so hungry, how come they arnt already dead? If you take your filter media out a well established tank, within a day its gonna be useless. Everything would be dead on it.
Well, thats how I see it.

If they are so hungry, how come they arnt already dead?
because the liquid they are shipped/stored in is basically ammonium (along with a few other chemicals)
thus feeding them whilst waiting for someone to buy them.
this is also why you shouldn't put the liquid into your tank, just the pearls

Ive used them a few times now for variuous set ups- they really do work pritty quickly.

Dont they need oxygen as well though?
It would have to be quite a strong mix of ammonium though otherwise they wouldnt have much of a shelf life.
What about the other cycle aids/instant cycle products out there that are in liquid form? Or are those the bad ones?
Sorry, Im not being ignorant or trying to be rude. It just goes against a lot of things that I have read...
I prefer the sit wait and dont rush way of doing it, but hey, if it works then cool :)
