Currently, I've got a all-glass twin tube (20 watt x 7500 K + 6500 K), that is over a 30 gallon tank with DIY CO2. So that gives me hardly enough light, despite my success with dwarf sag, val's, java fern, and wisteria. So, i have a little extra money and debating what to do now to improve my lighting.

Option 1: Add another twin tube. Cost $50.

Example:

Result: 2.75 wpg

Option 2: Replace current twin tube with power compact. Cost $80.

Example: Ebay

Result: 4.48 wpg? (idk if compacts are same).

What is your opinion? I don't know much about the power compact, and i am unsure about how long the bulbs wear out?

Thanks,
Mitch

4 wpg will be WAY too much lighting over a 30 gallon without pressurized CO2 and Fertilizing. Even WITH pressurized it's alot and you'll have to be real careful with your dosing.

I'm not entirely sure where you go the numbers 4.48 wpg from but I'd say that PC rig you're looking at on ebay (110w) will be plenty.

You're still gonna have to ensure consistent CO2 levels and be careful with fertilizing in my opinion.
