I was going to give sons tank a bit of a clean and picked up soime bogwood only to notice I'd disturbed a female krib and a load of tiny babies that were only noticeable by their tiny black eyes. I assume that the female will now eat these babies but I'm sure they will breed again. I'm not bothered about trying but if they do as its a community tank they have no chance of surviving to adult hood do they?

Some will make it as kribs are very very very good parents! What other fish do you have in the tank?

they are in my sons community tank and am actively looking for old tanks for me to start seperating some of my fish

there is a clown plec and sultan plec in there which I presume will get them and a hoplo car along with serpae tetras

babies still there this morning. female with babies and male on duty

I bought the kribs because the colours on them were so fantastic compared to kribs I've seen and had in the past.. really rich yellows and maroon in dorsal fin

Got any pic's? They might be Nigerian Red's. Would love to see them. What size tank are they in?

I'll take some pics tonight when home from work although there colours have gone a bit now babies there. beautiful when breeding though

its a 25g. Its my sons tank and I'd like to put them in one of there own but mine are taken up

theres about 40 babies. they've been moved twice from under bogwood to castle and now in the wide open in corner of tank!!!

interesting to watch. I've never been into breeding fish but I'm after spare tanks to have a go to have a go.

the babies are still alive but the malle in last couple of hours ios hassling the female and now both fish deserted the babies. Is this a common problem with young fish

it seems they've patched their differences up for the sake of the kids lol!!

they are moving them constantly though and they are starting to be brave in where they are going. I haven't seen any tank mates swallow any yet though

I go away tomorrow for weekend so I'm sure when I get back I'll be lucky to see any

well been away and they are still there although only 14 now.

the are very brave swimming all over the place but there is a hoplo cat who keeps going past them licking his lips it would seem!!

Baby kribs... I'm jealous.

What have you been feeding them?

nothing specific

the tank gets flake and frozen brine shrimp

I've noticed that they pick at algae and crap on the bottom and when flake and brine goes in they pick at that

They are quite interesting to watch and are growing quickly and the parents have been amazing. surprised me

PICS?

I'll get my ass together and get some later

the male over night has kicked hell out of female who has left babies and he's also battered a serpae tetra

babies seem less active prbably cos they are not protected now and as I don't have a spare empty tank they will probably get eaten which is a shame

Do you have a breeding net? If the parents look good enough, i'd suggest getting you #### over to the nearest pet store and get a 10 g spare tank. It sounds like your pair isnt goin gto work and you'll need a new male. But let the female recouperate first!

bugger!!!

Put them in a large net in the tank by the filter flow and this morning all but one or two are dead in there

do I leave the pair in there to just get on with things again or would it be worth me putting the female in that net for a few days to rest. the net is about 6" x6"

I bought a new tank yesterday but not going to be ready for a week or so and wouldn't risk the kribs in there
