Onion Floaters! Help Please...

How can I keep these Crinum thaianum bulbs planted? I have five of them, which seems to involve 15 – 25 re-plantings per day. I'm getting very near to composting the ruddy lot of 'em..!

I had 1 and found it annoying, what i did was tie some cotton or fishing line on to a piece of slate then loop it over the top of the 'shoot' part then i planted it and pushe the slate into the substrate then put more slate on top of it to keep it down, it took 2 days to stay down and it doesn't help with a 9" plec!
