One of my mollies has a blue spot is this normal?

Some molly species are very blue, and the hobby mutts/hybrids pop out some interesting signs of that sometimes.

That's totally normal. The blue is a wild trait that does show up in certain breeding forms. So, nothing to be worried about.

I had a 3 inch sphenops type a Mexican friend found in a feeder tank at a market - actually I had 5, all male. The body was brilliant blue and the caudal had a vivid orange fringe. I have seen a couple of wild mollies no breeder form can approach.

A lot of mollies in the wild have blue in them which is more visible when the light strikes them. Take a good look at a socalled green sailfin. It does have a blue shine when the light hits the scales. I'm also keeping other wild molly species. They look grey but when the light hits them, you see a blue shine as well. In breeding forms it's become more enhanced.
