added my final 2 fish yesterday (2 black angelfish) water perameters were good and ready for the addition, the one angel wasnt looking too happy from the start and this evening i had to remove the body. Could the fish have been ill before i added it and the stress is what finished it off??
Just hope the remaining angel get enough food after the feeding frenzy of the other tank mates!

I would say a lot of the fish we buy are under a certain ammout of stress before and juring transport, some more than others.
How long did you acclimatise them for?

Keith.

Hi FoF. sorry to hear about your fishy's death.

I think i had better mention that I am looking into getting an Angelfish for my tank, so i asked opinions here.

My tank is 180 litres & the advice given was that its only big enough for a single Angelfish, so your 90 litre tank is much too small fo one angel, let alone 2.

Good luck.

Black Angel Fish are the most fragile of the species. They are very susceptible to water conditions and stress. It's quite possible the fish was stressed and ill before you even got it. Then on top of that the move from the shop + acclimitisation might of finished it off.

They're also susceptible to nitrates which most fish shops tend to have by the bucket load. The fish last fish i brought the nitrates tested off the scale in the LFS water.

The 90l tank is a short term thing till i am confident i can manage a larger tank 250l+

Unfortunately my tap water has fairly high ntrates about 30 ppm which starts me out on the back foot. right now everything is still a huge learning curve but a very enjoyable one.

There is nothing wrong with angels, in my experience. I have a few nice black angels in my largest tank that are doing just fine. The 180 litre tank mentioned seems plenty large enough to me for small numbers of angels. Even a 90 litre tank would be plenty for a small colony of scalares.
