So after watching the auction tick over with baited breath and a ghastly last few minutes of frantic bidding i cant believe i won this beauty!!!!!

I won a 4ft tank, stand and extras for only $105.46aus  :hyper: :shout: ABSOLUTE BARGIN when i priced bigger tanks at over $500aus and paid $400 for our first 3ft and $1000 for our deep 3ft.

SERIOUSLY stoked with this.

The whole purpose of buying it is to subdivide it and house my bettas in it!! My fiancee is going to cringe at having to drive all the way to Seaford to pick it up  Its about an hours drive from here....but im playing the two tanks become one......lower power bill etc etc card.

4ft aquarium 4ftX18inX18in
stained 4ft Stand

comes with asst plastic plants
Fake Rocks
Gravel
(Bucket needed)
Under gravel filter
Pump Air

All i need to get is a heater, proper filter and light. And of course divide it......

So stay tuned for dividing questions as i want help with this. I would like it to be permanently divivded so am looking at fixing dividers that DONT come out and how to affix them.

*excited bounce*

How many sections can it be divided into???

Bargain!!!! you can easily divide that into many sections, i would only give each section a min of 5 iches wide, bettas will do ok with 5 inches wide as long as they have the depth and height they will be ok. Its hard work dividing them off esp if you want them as perm structures, have fun :good:

I'd divide that into 4-5 sections personally. That's such a bargain though! Looks really nice indeed :good:

I would get some penplax dividers and a tube of aquarium silicon and use that to perma fix them in. I would silicon along every seam as well so there is no wiggling past. to get the best seal I would remove all gravel wash the tank well and then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and let dry.

CONGRATS!!! You're right - that was a STEAL!

Promise the man you will feed him - stop someplace for eats & he won't mind the drive so much!!! :)

Oooh that's really nice! I like the idea of fixing the divider with aquarium sealant. I'm assuming that if you are getting a light for it, then there must be some sort of lid? Wouldn't want any fish on the floor, especially if they jumped the divider!

Sounds like a great bargain. I hope you have a great time with it! :p

man thats even bigger than the 10G in our house and it less expensive than than ours.

Very nice! :good:

Wish I could find a stand similar to that!

Congrats at getting such a bargain. I'm sooo jealous, we don't have room for a 4ft. Look forward to seeing it all set up :good:

That IS a reality for some of us Honeythorn.... the biggest tank I have ever owned is 2.5 feet (just over 20g) and my parents think it's absolutely enormous and don't understand why I would possibly want something bigger, or a better way to house my bettas (which only have two gallons each.)

Absolute bargain though... that is so cheap for a 4ft WITH STAND and it looks like it's in very good condition too - great find!!!

Yep i will need to get glass coverings for it. They are dirt cheap though.

Netty: we already have 2x 3ft tanks in our home  so this one should fit ok. I will just have to make sure they all fit in our new home. We generally live in houses with two lounge rooms anyways because we have so much crap lol!

Im not sure how many sections i would divide it into. I wouldnt want to squeeze five in if four was comfy for them. I will more than likely decide when i measure it up. The idea of getting it is to get rid of my bench top tanks i have a reduce things. EG: 3filters down to 1. I will probably go with Penplax dividers but i do have some black shade cloth out the back if im feeling adventurous. I am nto sure how that cloth would go with being affixed. I was tossing up whether to transfer my fish from my 3ft to my 4ft but my cichlids are in there with high ph sand so it would mean pulling everything apart etc and my other 3ft tank has real old fish in it so they would be more stressed as their tank is set hi up on a cabinet and my cats cant get them.

Its going to be a work in progress over time so it can be done right :)

Very nice! :good:

Well including the tank i just bought, 3 out of my 5 have been off ebay. I looked for ages before buying though. One of the others is from an aquarium and we got a discount on that one and the other my father in aw gave me :)

Hang on..you think 10 gallons is big?
no tank is big until it takes two people to carry it, empty of course. I look at the 29 gallon and say egh, I can still pick that up and carry it myself.

my penplax divider I also use black cross stitch backing, I cut the penplax screen and the cross stitch backing to fit and then put them both in the end parts and siliconed them in well.

also big deal is to make sure there is no open space between the top of the divider and the lid. where my lid opens there is a 2 inch higher gap. I simply cut a 3 inch bit of cross stitch backing used a glob of silicon and glued it to the divider just under the opening in the lid, no gaps anywhere.
