today i went to a petstore to buy 5 more sterbai cories, and i saw discus, $15 each for blue turquois (sp) omg omg, i am so getting it, just to trythings out, this is canadain dollars!!

there was $18 for SICK discus now it's 15 for healthy! more info: Link is there any good sites about them? they will be sold out fast i wil get them tommorow is possible! i mean it is so worth a try, they will go in my 55 gallon tank

hahaha i am about to be the few discus owners on the forum!

i know that my plec might suck on my discus but he is they shyest little plec i have ever seen, all he does is suck on the wood and sucks on my clown loach when they try to eat the algae warfers

but he never sucked on my angels so probably not my discus :shifty:

they are really small too  like around1.5 inch diameter  but my problem is getting them to eat, is there something that they will eat for sure? not live i dont feed live food to my fish maybe the hikari discus pellets?

they will eat bloodworms, discus pellets, etc. Make sure you pay close attention to what your ph and water hardness is. Seachem makes a product called 'Discus Buffer" that is excellent. Also, at 1.5 inches I cannot stress enough high temperature. to get them eating heartily and to reduce stress I would heat it in excess of 86.

Are the other fish in your tank going to be able to withstand those high discus temps?....

all of my fish's maximus temp is 27 and the minimun of the discus is 27 so no problem

my question is, i have read that do not use carbon with discus, is this true? so should i take the carbon out? will the carbon be in the water though? so how do i get rid of carbon before i add the discus?

Can't really answer that one... I haven't used carbon in a while since I took it out to treat ich, and I forgot to put it back in. I guess it's gone for good now. Anyway I just went out and bought Jack Wattleys discus formula for my discus, should be good. I also bought 3 baby angels which I will quarantine in my 5 gallon for a week or so. YAY!

Are they really only 1.5 inches? that's incredibly tiny. The one I got for $20.00 US is 4 inches.

it's more like 2 inch, 1.5 is too small my mistake..sorry

Well I wish you good luck with them. they are truly magnificent if you are willing to succumb to their every whim and desire. They are like little princes and princesses... the royalty of the fish world. :p

1 is a good idea. I went to discusfishuk.com on their forum (there are some mad discus expert/professional breeders there, believe me they are obsessed and know EVERYTHING about discus). They say keep just 1, or at least 6, kinda like the RTBS. If you have just 1 it's fine but if you have 2-4 one of them will almost always be picked on. My original discus died from a combo of being chased by the one I have now and a kinda crappy diet of just frozen brine shrimp. Now I know better and have just one discus, and I am going to feed it the jack wattleys discus formula (supposed to be really good). It doesn't seem lonely at all to me... this little guy is one tough customer, swimming all over the tank and investigating everything, chasing the guppies I just put in there :p cause I had to quarantine my angels.
