my mg girl...queen cow bag, was fairly fine after the spawning, after knocking the crap out of my male. well I was doing a partial water change on her tank this morning...like every morning and the violent little brat decides she does not want the tube in her tank and starts atacking it, before I could pull the tube out or get it away from her, she got her face and body jammed in the frount of the tube!!!

she whipped around the tank panicing, then just layed on the bottem, I ran upstairs and got a breeder net and scooped her into it, she is now either lieing on the floor or floating upseide down.

it does not look good at all, all she is missing is a few scales, but I think she has internal dammage. shes in the breeder net so she can get to the top easy, the waters warm, and I salted, melifixed and started a round of antibiotics on the tank.

I am pretty sure she is going to die and all my effort are in vain, she was being a little brat, but even if I never got her to spawn sucessfully I still wanted to keep her and have her in my soroity.

I cant believe I have killed my fav betta

Don't blame yourself at all!!!!. They do the most unexpected things sometimes and there is just nothing you can do to prevent it

I hope she will be ok and am sending a big hug......you've had a crappy day so far!!!! Hopefully it can only get better now :good:

Don't worry yourself too much!
I've done the exact same thing by accident to a female Paradise Fish (another anabantoid very similar to a Betta)
The fish exhibited the same kind of behaviour as your betta is doing, I just added a 7 day course of Melafix and she came off fine!

I highly recommend turning off the aquarium lights to minimise stress and adding Melafix to the tank which should calm her down and help to repair the damage.

Good luck! :good:

went down to check on her and I cant see any gills or fins moving, just a still little statue, even when I move her around. I cant believe I killed her, granted she didnt have to atack the end of the tube-she could have swam away. but I still feel like crap for causing the death of my fishy.

poo.

on a slightly better note my husband found out this morning that he got hired for a new management position...at all places... a petsmart  and he found out in time to tell officemax to kiss off and take his 4 weeks of severence pay.

wow I will finaly have somebody who listens to me when I ***** about the betta cups, not that the particular store he will manage is bad to begin with, they are actualy pretty good to their fish. well as good as a retailer desigined to mass sell can be to their fish.
