I just went to check on my quaranting tank and my 3 white clouds (i assume) have produced a billion fry WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!

i had white cloud fry and you should get some liquifry for egglayers. sadly i lost all mine. they will be ok until you get some tomorrow. what filtration do you have?

5-15 internal filter.

it's just a quarantine tank. ten gallons

I could put them in the 55 or something I guess. I'm kinda freaking out. I didn't even know they were preggy.

should I put a stocking over the intake or something????

wait. WCMM are egglayers?

how long does it take for the eggs to hatch?

they've only been in the tank a week

oops sorry for the double post.

edit: I am going to the beach tommorow. I can't get any Liquifry. Can I feed them powdered flake?

EDIT: I put a stocking over the intake of the filter. I also put the 3 WCMM from the ten into the 55 I hope this was the right thing to do!!! I'm also going to finely crush some flake so My mom can feed them over the week while I'm at the beach. I will try to get some liquifry but it's not looking good.

EDIT: now it's thundering and the power is gonna go out. I'm gonna be worrying about this the entire time I'm at the beach.

edit edit: should i put this in a different forum?

It only takes a couple of days for white cloud eggs to hatch, so the fry very well could be theirs. I guess you could try powdered flake, but I have a feeling that's going to be too big for them to eat. I'm not really familiar with how one cares for white cloud fry, but infurosia might be a good choice? If you've got any live plants those tend to foster infurosia, as does green water.

I have live plants. I'm stomping a bag of flake food as we speak. But your right it is too big for them. Do you think they can live off the live plants? This tank has had a ton of plants go through it. Actually all the plants in all my tanks (except for the apongeton) have been in this tank at one point or another.

edit: and it doesn't have a single snail,

EDIT: i just realized. I did a water change today!!! there are a million fry in there now. How could I not have noticed them? How many did I kill

Maybe they hadn't hatched yet when you did the water change?

I'd put as many live plants as you can spare in with them so maybe a few of them can survive eating the tiny organisms which live on the plants. I'd suggest getting some BBS eggs to hatch out for them, but since you're going to be away for a week I guess that's not an option :/

Java moss is your best bet right now... little teesny critters like to hang out in it that are the perfect size for small fry. Another idea is to put in some algae wafers. My fry love eating them because they can bite off little pieces. I've actualy had 3 teensy dwarf platy fry in a 2g that I have not given any special food and they have survived off of the algae growing on the sponge filter, the "things" living in the java moss, and the little nibbles of algae wafers I put in every once in a while.

ok so Mom is gonna put in 2 SMALL pinches of powdered flake a day. ANd add some algae wafer for the rubbernose pleco. The fry can eat the algae wafer too. Hope they make it. I can't spare any more live plants because of the aggression in the 55. If I took out any plants the sharks would kill each other. I guess i'll just have to hope for the best.

I got back from the beach today and the fry were fine ... My mom WAY overfed. I did a water change with a small tube as a gravel vac. I don't think I sucked up any of the little guys.
They look like neons. Is this strange.
1 of the rainbow sharks and 5 of the WCMM died in the 55 gallon. I don't know If I want to let her take care of the fish anymore. If I do I will leave MUCH more detailed instructions.
My filter is running REALLY slow. I am almost positive it is the panty hose. What should I do about this? Is there any netting that will slow the flow down less but still protect the fry?

thank you very much. That's very helpful. I'm gonna try to go and get some of the infusoria but I don't know where to go. I doubt any LPS around me has the stuff. They made it a week on algae wafers and crumbled fish flakes. Would this be sufficient for the remainder of there stay with me?
