My 260 litre tank has been cycling for exactly 3 weeks and 3 days. Just took my readings and they are as follows:
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0.25ppm
Nitrate - 160ppm and above (off the chart)

I know Nitrite has to be zero before cycling is completed, but last night it was off the chart, so has dropped very suddenly! Has it almost cycled or has it gone Pete Tong

Kinda sounds as if it's almost cycled, but I'd do a 20% water change one your nitrite and nitrate are 0ppm and see if it stays at that and your stats stay at that.. then you will know if you tank is fully cycled. I believe that's how you tell if it's fully cycled. PLease state me if I'm wrong more experienced members! :flowers:

not an expert on cycling (doing one now) but add ammonia to 4-6ppm, if it's gone back to zero in 12-18 hours and nitrite is zero too then you're ready for fish after a 50-75% water change to sort the nitrates before fish
oh, hi again.....just realised.........talk tomorrow?
