Got home last night to find a mass of wrigglers in the corner of the 4ft community. Considering it's their first brood the parents are doing a wonderfull job of protection and feeding. When I came down this morning, at first I couldn't see them and thought that they hadn't made it through the night, but low and behold they had moved them to a pit they had excavated to the rear of the tank. So now I have two lots of fry to lavish my love on.

I was going to do a water change tonight, will this spook the parent's into eating the fry. Or should I leave it for a bit. I would welcome advice on this please. Oh yes and a big Thanks to Star4 and Gill who's fish have made me a double mummy for the fist time.

awwww congratulations :D , a water change shouldnt bother them really, just fill up from the end away from the fry.

congratulations ive got some juvi eliotti and hope they produce offspring when theyve matured, some pics would be cool !
keep up the good work

paul :good:

Thanks guy's I'm thrilled to bits. They are a bit small for my camera to cope with at the moment but will try when they get a little bigger. Fingers crossed. :good:

Thanks, I knew I could count on you. I want to give the glass agood clean aswell, all the better for me to see them

Just a warning they may bite if you go too near the fry while cleaning the glass, mostly I had just warning flares till the female nipped me!

I'll be on my guard, but they will be too quick for me I think. The plan is to do it tonight as I'm going straight home from work. They are both still doing a wonderfull job and there is still loads of little ones, just hope this dosn't spur the rest of the tank mates to start producing aswell. My sister bless her has offered me her old 60ltr tank which has a lid and light, I may well take her up on it and my mother is bringing the old family tank a 3ft if I remember rightly with her at the end of next week, I can at least change one of the smaller tanks to something a little more suitable for my growing brood. or have another two tanks?????

Oh yes I'll try and take some picks after the clean.

 Yeah more tanks, How are the wrigglers doing today?

Wrigglers doing abso fine. Did the water change (not so large as usual) the parents didn't come anywhere near me. They bought them to the front of the tank last night, I could actually see some of them pooing. Ive taken a couple of pics will try and get them up later. By the way the father is the one with the two spots, do you remember picking him out for me. Bless.

Oh I remember odd spot  very cheeky! funny he was the only one with double spots on his side! If you pass by my way you'll have to pop in and see the severum babies, then you will want another tank

Mums comming back to me with the dim's for the tank she's got, It still has the lid and all the kit. If it will fit, then I'm having it. The only worry I have as it's been years since it's had water in it, the silicon may have perished in places, will have a test out in the garden first me thinks. :good:
