I recently bought some whole frozen bloodworms (Omega One brand) to use as occasional treats for Samson, my betta. I've never fed these before, and the product certainly looked different than I expected! Most of you are probably already familiar with it, but it's basically large (red) frozen cubes. Obviously I'm assuming 1 cube is waay too much for a little betta to eat, so how do you feed these? How much of a cube will you give in one feeding, and how often? Can you save the rest of the cube in the freezer for later feeding? When you do feed bloodworms, do you replace one of your fish's meals with it for that day? I'm currently feeding Omega One pellets - 2 pellets 2x day. Samson is just getting used to eating pellets, so I probably won't feed the bloodworms for another day or two, but as I said I'm unsure of how much/how often/etc to feed.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

He doesn't have to get 'use' to bloodworms, they are a very natural diet.

I would feed blood worm once every 4 - 5 days as a replacement to one of the day's meals. I feed mine twice a day with normal food, give them half a pinch each time. If I am feeding blood worm on that day, I feed in the evening meal. For 1 betta, I would cut off a qtr or slightly less of the cube. This should be the eqv to 4 or 5 worms, some people like to defrost the cube before, others put it straight in the tank.

You can wrap the cube back up in tinfoil and replace in the freezer.

Thanks! I wasn't afraid he wouldn't eat the bloodworms, I just don't want him thinking he can eat those instead of pellets, lol... I may try giving him some in place of tonight's meal, then. Thanks again for the tips!
