Old Rocks

hello,

i am currently resetting up my aquerium from cichlids back to normal fresh water fish and as a result i have had to give away all my coral sand and sea rocks.

im seeting the new one up with bogwood, sand and id like to add some rocks, only problem is the price

i have however saved my old rocks from when i had a freshwater tank before....i kept them in an air tight tub....theyve been there for about three years now and id like to use these again for the new tank. trouble is im not sure they where completely dried out as there is some water in the bottom of the tub, and my be dangerous to put into my new tank (dangerous bacteria)


do you know a way in which i can clean these and reuse them or will i have to save my pennies and buy new

I doubt anything will have survived that long, but to be sure, you could pour boiling water over them or soak them in a mild bleach solution and then rinse several times in fresh water with a double dose of dechlorinator.
